A 2018 meta-analysis in the Journal of Pain analyzing 39 high-quality randomized trials confirmed acupuncture produces significantly greater pain relief than sham acupuncture or no treatment for chronic musculoskeletal pain. Research published in the Archives of Internal Medicine demonstrated that acupuncture outperformed conventional care for back pain, neck pain, and osteoarthritis.
