Behind the Science

Research published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine shows cupping therapy significantly reduces chronic neck and back pain. Studies demonstrate measurable increases in local blood flow and a reduction in inflammatory markers. The mechanical suction effect has been shown to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting deep relaxation and accelerated tissue recovery.

Cupping therapy treatment, an ancient healing practice with roots dating back thousands of years, has gained significant popularity in modern times. Originating in traditional Chinese medicine, cupping has been utilized as a therapeutic modality in various cultures across the globe. This gentle and non-invasive technique involves placing cups on the skin to create suction, which promotes blood circulation and stimulates the flow of vital energy, known as “Qi.”

Qi

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cupping is viewed as a way to balance the body’s energy and restore harmony. It is believed that by placing cups on specific acupoints or meridians, Qi blockages and Blood stagnation can be cleared, allowing Qi & Blood to flow smoothly. Cupping is often employed to address conditions such as muscle tension, pain, respiratory disorders, and even digestive issues. By improving circulation and enhancing the body’s natural healing mechanisms, cupping aims to restore overall well-being.

Cupping therapy treatment offers a wide range of potential benefits. It can help alleviate muscle soreness, reduce inflammation, promote detoxification, and improve circulation. Many individuals find relief from chronic pain conditions, sports injuries, and stress-related tension through regular cupping sessions. Moreover, cupping therapy is often used as an adjunct treatment in respiratory conditions like asthma and bronchitis, as well as digestive disorders and skin conditions such as cellulite and acne.

As an ancient practice with a rich history, cupping therapy continues to provide a holistic approach to well-being. Whether you seek relief from physical ailments or desire a rejuvenating experience, cupping therapy offers a natural and time-tested solution. Experience the benefits of this traditional healing modality and embark on a journey towards enhanced vitality and balance.

Cupping Styles Offered:

Cupping therapy includes two main styles, known as Fire Cupping and Vacuum cupping. Fire Cupping involves briefly heating glass cups with a flame and quickly placing them on the skin, creating a vacuum effect as they cool. Vacuum cupping uses cups with suction mechanisms or handheld pumps to create suction on the skin. With both cupping styles, different techniques can be used; “jumping cup” involves brief and repeated cup application along specific meridians, while “running cup” utilizes lubrication on the skin for cups to glide smoothly, providing a massage-like experience.

Glass cups are briefly heated with a flame and quickly placed on the skin. As the air inside cools, a vacuum forms that lifts the fascia, draws blood to the surface, and releases stagnant Qi deep in the tissue.

Silicone or plastic cups use a handheld pump or valve to create controlled suction. The intensity is easy to dial in for sensitive areas and works well with the “running cup” technique for a massage-like glide across the back, shoulders, or legs.

Why Cupping Differs From Regular Soft Tissue Therapy

Decompression vs Compression

Unlike massage which compresses tissue, cupping lifts and separates layers of fascia, muscle, and skin simultaneously.

Deep Circulation Boost

Draws fresh blood and oxygen into stagnant tissue up to 4 inches deep — unreachable by surface techniques.

Lymphatic Drainage

Actively moves lymphatic fluid to reduce inflammation and accelerate the body's natural detox processes.
